Hi, total noob here. I tried to move my /home/ directory (?) to an SD card, as I'm working with very limited built-in storage space. I lost the tutorial I was following, as I had it open on my computer, but it was one of the first ones to come up when you Google how to move home. After the system rebooted, all it says is "Zorin OS not found" and ensure there's a valid operating system or whatever. After Googling for an hour I've managed to enter emergency mode? And I have a console up by opening a grub efi file or something. Again, total noob. PLEASE help!!!

- Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled?
- Is Your BIOS in UEFI or Legacy Mode?
- What Tool did You use the create the Bootstick?
- Do You have in BIOS an ''ubuntu'' entry in an Option that is called ''Boot Order''?
- Did You moved the home Partition after the Installation or during the Installation Process?
As far as I'm aware, secure boot is disabled and I don't have a fast boot option. I believe it's in UEFI mode. I used Rufus to make the bootstick, but it's been installed for a few weeks now, and I'm just now trying to move home.
If it helps at all with understanding my BIOS options, I'm running Zorin on an ancient Samsung Chromebook 3.
An update: by selecting boot from file (if I recall correctly, core.efi?) I managed to get it to run. Is there a way to fix whatever I've done so I don't have to do this every time my computer restarts?
You could try it with starting Zorin from USB Stick in Live Mode and run Boot Repair.
I don't have a USB large enough to hold Zorin OS. I used the Micro SD card that I now have my home directory on to install the OS. The best temporary solution I've found is to add a boot option to boot from the file and set it as the default option.
Easiest way for a newbie to fix this, is to re-install Zorin OS. You've learned the hard way, to never move your home folder, or any important system folder, as it will break your OS. When I was a computer newb, I also made mistakes which broke my system, back in the Windows days, before the dark times.
If you are concerned with storage space, best way to fix that, is to buy a larger capacity storage drive. You can even get an external drive that plugs into a USB port, and put all your stuff on that, and just keep only the OS on the internal drive.
Agreed...there is more to the Home folder then appears to the eye hitting the control+h will show the hidden folders which like windows(sorta) are where the files are for system use.. moving the home folder would be like moving the registry in windows same result system wont boot cause it cant find what it needs sounds like a learning thing there...a reinstall will be way quicker
