Well i don't hate GNOME but i do understand the people that complain about way to less customization compared to other DE's. For me i use my laptop only for Games, Internet, Email and some small apps. I don't customize alot because i don't want to break things and i don't really need it.
On the otherhand i do like the looks of Cinnamon, used to have it with Mint 17.x. I did customize back then to see what linux was capable of compared to windows 10 back then. I was really amazed of the things Linux could do.
My older desktop back in 2016, i changed the panel back then :).
Because my games didn't run well (guess because i forgot the proton/runners ?) i swapped back to Windows 10. But this year i completely switched to Linux and never turn back to Microsoft's BS OS
I tried the last Pop! Os build and even if it's a great distro I hated the fact that I can't search while in overview. Just... Why??? To me this is primary productivity feature! I feel like the new app library is totally useless.
Last time I tried Pop!_OS I couldn't search while in overview. In Zorin I usually hit super key, enter overview and whenever I hit a letter on the keyboard it starts searching for apps and files. I didn't find this behaviour in Pop_os. Maybe they reintroduced it? I hope so!
From the screenshots you provided I see you are using the new app library. With "overview" I mean the gnome overview from which you can see every app opened on every screen. From there, in Pop_os you can't do search.
Just because that's how I'm used to search for apps and things I need in Zorin. I love having the worskspace overview and search function integrated because I always have lot of apps running so I freequently use the worskspace overview. From there, I just start typing what I need and the search function does its job. And to me that's awesome in Pop_os I can't do that unfortunately unless I disable the cosmic extension.
