I've read as many questions/answers as I can find, but they all seem to be quite specifc issues.
My Zorin PC simply isn't visible from or to my Windows (W10) devices.
I've done samba install and cifs, following the various instructions I've seen.Nothing.
My Windows PCs have a bunch of shared folders that the each can see
But in the Zorin machine's "windows network" I see nothing.
On the Windows PCs I see the other Windows machine's shared folders on the network, but not the Zorin machine. I've tried smb:\windowsmachinename and ditto with the IP address of a windows machine. It doesn't find them. In effect it appears the Zorin machine just isn't on the network. Neither seeing nor being seen.
Zorin does connect to the internet- so the hardware is working OK.
I'm a bit surprised, as I thought this would be in the "just works" category and did not expect it to be problem.
How do I make my Zorin machine come out of hiding?
Just as in Windows, Zorin has a 'Public' folder. Right click this (or any other folder) and select 'share this folder' under permisdions. The Zorin PC should also have the same workgroup name as your Windows machines.
Just remembered when having to set up shares on update of good lady's machine. If you have Synaptic Package Manager installed (available in Software) search for libnfs13 - an essential library for Network File Sharing.
Ah
That's interesting (libnfs13 - an essential library for Network File Sharing)
I'll try this if I can. Because currently my Zorin machine and the rest of the network don't see each other at all. My Windows machines don't even appear in Zorin's network places and both of the Windows PCs have shared folders ( which appear on each other). And my Zorin machine doesn't even appear in Windows' nework places.
Might also be worth installing any files with nfs in them, just to be sure.
