Zorin updates for my laptop

I am new to zorin. The updates freeze when I try updating secure boot signature.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Is that something that I really need? Everything else seems fine.

Hello and welcome Biguoss77,
Please post some information about your system and indicate if your dual booting with windows or running just Zorin as your primary OS.

Full install. Had windows 10. MSI laptop Intel I7 6000 something build not good enough for windows 11.

A pic. of the screen before I hit Restart and update. It just seems to freeze everything when I click on it.

You can disable secure boot in the bios. Many Linux users do so. Secure boot is to protect primarily windows users from exploits running during the boot process.

I second this.
If it is causing you problems, which it often does, you can disable it in your computer EFI settings.

But, due to the changing times, I must warn you... Microsoft Gnome on Zorin Core will alert you that your Gnome Shell is insecure because of it with a scary looking message.

Why was @Winged1 's post marked as :white_check_mark:Solution? as it only asks for system information from the OP.
I will therefore remove the Solution flag from post #2.
Could @Winged1 's post #4, re secure boot, is the Solution?

Only the O.P. can clarify is the issue has been solved currently...

Updated my bios and problem went away. Just a heads up for people using older equipment.
