So there is an annoying feature of the workspace preview (on taskbar) when you start typing to search for an application in which the found icons are covered up by web/store search results making it impossible to select an application icon that is covered up by these results. Is there a way to disable this web/store search part ?

Never mind. My bad. The extra search results can be turned off via settings->search.
