[rant about Win10 being the worst of Win8 backblended with basic functions of Win7 so they can force it down our throats] abridged because I’m sure you know what I mean.

I grew up with Commodore 64 and DOS before Microsoft started taking over the world. I resisted Win10, but I have to use it at work because the main program we are contractually-obligated to use for our business is only supported on Win10 as of Win7 EOL. In response, I’ve put almost all of my stuff on PortableApps so I can go back and forth between my Win7 (spare me the “it’s so dangerous now that it’s EOL!” I have expensive programs installed on Win7 that I’m not sure they’ll let me re-authorize if I de-authorize them to uninstall/reinstall, so I’m keeping it) laptop and the Win10 laptop I’m stuck using at work. Unfortunately, there are a few things I can’t do on PortableApps (and have been disabled in Win7), so I’ve been looking at trying to create a portable OS.

I want to be free to take my programs and data anywhere I want to go, and I’d rather not have to buy more new stuff. I really like the idea of being able to take a multi-TB portable hard drive with me anywhere and be able to just plug it in and do my thing without having to carry a whole separate laptop.
