6.8 hwe kernel are available in Ubuntu (Zorin) repo. it safe to update?

Hello there,

some days ago, new 6.8 kernel are available in official repos:

suton@suton-HP-EliteBook-840-G3:~$ apt search linux-generic-hwe-22.04-edge
Rendezés... Kész
Keresés a teljes szövegben... Kész
linux-generic-hwe-22.04-edge/jammy-updates,jammy-security 6.8.0-39.39~22.04.1 amd64
Complete Generic Linux kernel and headers

It is secure to update on Zorin? 6.5 kernel will be outdated in this month. So it need to update it, but now are OK? Any info when we will get it on normal update?

Your last question should be made to the Zorin Devs (@staff).
You could backup your system and data before giving it a try.

We should get this Update when Ubuntu packs it in normal Way in the Repo. When you take a Look at it You see that there stands ''edge'' at the End. If You really need this newer Version, You could try it with the Installation. Or You simply wait until it comes by itself.

I recommend patience when it comes to kernels. It will be there for an official update pretty soon. Either way, do a backup before upgrading the kernel. Also, make sure to give it a few minutes after the update before rebooting. Especially if running an Nvidia card.
