A number of apps "Stopped Receiving Updates"

I just noticed on the Installed tab on Software that a number of them have stopped receiving updates.

So far, OBS, Pomodoro, Denaro, and further down the page GNOME Application Platform Version 45 are the only ones that have this message below them.

I don't use OBS on Zorin (yet), but I'd like to understand what causes them to stop receiving updates.

Worth noting that these came pre-installed with Zorin OS Pro. I didn't install them myself. It's not an urgent issue, of course, but it'd be nice to know why they were installed but can't receive updates.

Digging deeper into OBS:

And Pomodoro:

Just in case these are helpful in figuring out the reason.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's normal with Flatpak packages. After a while, the underlying runtime required to run gets updated and you need to uninstall the app and re-install it again, which will download the newer required runtime for you.

So much for being always up to date... at least they warn you about it.

Whoa, that sounds like a major pain point. For all the praise Flatpak packages apparently get, this seems like big downside.

Thank you! I guess I'll keep that in mind when downloading/installing Flatpak packages from now on.

Yes, it is. And as you say, they do get a lot of praise as the best package format out there in the ether... but people conveniently forget to mention things like this.

I'm actually going to have to check my system and see if there's any on mine. I typically don't bother checking, so this is a good reminder.

But unfortunately that doesn't work in every Case because the Developer have to update to a newer Runtime. There You can only hope that this will happen.

Unrelated: I love .deb.
