AD domain users profile appears read-only

Hi there, after join to a AD domain and logging on Zorin 18 Core using domain user and its password, I can log in but noticed there is no way to change background, it appears preferences are read-only and no selection is possible.
Otherwise, when logging in with a local user, this not happens.
I will ask you if such behavior is normal.
Thanks.

This is intentional, since the GNOME treats these accounts as AD managed users.

Personalisation of desktops consumes a lot of space, hence the need for corporate wallpaper. I would suggest you design one or choose one, delete all existing wallpapers and then connect to AD.

Thanks for reply.
So it's gnome who prevents user changes.
I am testing Zorin 18 and my only purpose was to use plain color only as a background, and some other things like any user would change from default settings.
User is prevented to perform any personalisation, e.g. place shortcuts on the desktop or change menu styles: no change survives to a logoff.
Just for try I've tweaked sssd.conf
override_homedir = /home/%u@%d
then created in /home a new folder named as the AD user,
copied all settings from the user under which I've installed Zorin.
When logging as the AD user, settings are read but unfortunately some of them are unaccessible, I guess because owner isn't that AD user which is obviously not listed in the passwd file since it's not a local user.
Because of that he can't take ownership of the files in its relative /home folder.
Has anyone an idea on how to overcome all that?

Having read other stories of putting GNU/Linux in schools, the biggest job was allocating all the /home directories of the users on the server. Perhaps it would be easier if you could ditch AD and install Zorin with the server packages on the server?

Found a working solution!

Case closed.
Thanks anyone for efforts.

Are you going to share?

Yes, if you click Zorin in a School written in blue in my previous message, then you'll reach related solution.
I've pasted link but after posting it was expanded.

But there is not a marked "Solution " in the Zorin in a School thread. There are several posts attempting to help the OP there, but no conclusion I can see.
Can you please state which post or posts in that thread provided you with the Solution that you have adopted, so may help others?

@alexbo linked directly to post #4, which bears the solution he used.
