Am I missing something?. When I right click on software, I do not have an option to add to desktop
The option should be available on the applications menu but also on the taskbar, when there's a program running or already pinned. Do you have it in any of these places?
If not, try to reset the desktop icons extension by simply toggling it off and back on. You can find this setting in the Extensions Manager. I'm not sure if this is installed by default but you can find it in the Software Store, and from there you can access the installed extensions:
When I switch to center taskbar, I do not have a menu. When I switch to menu, I can add to desktop. I will just switch to menu, add software to desktop and back to center. Thanks
Yeah, some of the appearance layout options don't provide the option to add to desktop. I'm in the same boat with a left side dock and application grid.
Edit: Might be worth moving to feedback: Parity on context menus between available layouts.
Ah, yes, I think this has been brought up in another thread recently where the layout makes the difference...
For the Application Grid exists a Gnome Extension called Add To Desktop which add's an Entry in the right-click Menu in the App Grid. I use it, too.
