Additional Drivers app will not open for Macbook Pro camera setup

Hi. I've installed Zorin Pro 16.2 on my old trusty Late 2012 Macbook Pro, and all seems fine except that I can't get the webcam to be detected in Zoom client. I have the Additional Drivers app installed, but it won't open when launch is clicked.

My primary problem is the webcam which doesn't seem to be detected.
My secondary problem is that the Additional Drivers app won't launch. I've tried uninstalling it, reboot, reinstall, reboot, launch and nothing happens.

I distantly recall installing additional drivers from the command line on my other old Thinkpad, but I might have imagined doing that as I tried a lot of stuff to get Docker installed at that time.

Any ideas?

Try the following command and check for and report any errors. Not a solution, but a start. zorin-additional-drivers-checker

You can also install the synaptic-package-manger and look for drivers there also. Type drivers in synaptic search and it will provide a list of installed and other drivers. The command line is an option if you know what you want to install.

To help locate the device name from the command line try the following.

sudo apt-get install v4l-utils

v4l2-ctl --list-devices

From a websearch using search term "Macbook Pro webcam Zoom Ubuntu 20.04"

Found this: webcam - Just recently installed Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS on a macbook pro, except the camera everything works nice - Ask Ubuntu
