AMD Hardware

Dear Zorin Devs,

First off, I want to say that I’ve tested Zorin 18 Pro, Core, and Education editions, and I really love what you’ve built. The design, usability, and overall experience are excellent.

However, there’s one major issue that’s preventing me from keeping Zorin installed on my system: slow file transfers over the network to my local drives (SSD/HDD).

On Windows 11, I consistently get around 200 MB/s transfer speeds, but on Zorin I only see about 10 MB/s. This is a huge difference, especially considering my hardware setup:

  • AMD X399 Threadripper 2950X
  • 128 GB RAM
  • SSD storage

With specs like these, I expect Zorin to deliver faster transfer speeds.

I also wanted to mention ZFS. I know it’s relatively new and has limitations with RAID, but adding support for it in Zorin could be a big step forward for performance and reliability.

I hope this feedback helps, because I’d really love to make Zorin my daily driver if the network transfer speeds can be improved.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
