An important system upgrade did not download

New to Zorin os, after installing it and the first reboot I keep getting a failed to install important system update error on every startup. Any help, suggestions.

Can You say what Update it is? Maybe making a Picture of the Error Message?

also get failed to upload important operating system update. I'm not very tech savvy with computers tried researching problem on line but get lost in all the commands needed to try and resolve problem. This is an hp all in one that was given to me, has wins 10 home installed cpu won't handle wins 11 was able to get zorin installed like it so far looks just windows. I check update from settings says zorin is up to date.

Thanks for the info, printed off and followed inst for using the commands, seems to have worked no error msg after entering the 4th command and restarting. When entering the first 3 commands it said a 3rd party had entered a corrupt code? was that the problem and this corrected it. Is it safe to use?

From what I understand, the update that had a problem was a secure boot revocation. What that means is that something allowed to boot with secure boot had been compromised, and its key needed to be revoked to make sure the compromised version of that software couldn't boot. Odds are extremely good that you never came anywhere near the relevant software, but the secure boot update goes to everyone. For whatever reason, the update had trouble applying for many users. You should be fine now if you're not seeing the error message. If you have secure boot turned off (many of us do, as it's realistically not that useful if you're not running Windows or dual booting Windows with Linux), it wouldn't matter anyway, and the update was mainly about getting rid of the pesky error message.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:zorinos/fwupd

sudo apt update

sudo apt dist-upgrade

The first Command adds a Zorin PPA for a newer fwupd Version, the second Command refreshes the Sources List because You have added a new Source (the Zorin PPA) and the third Command updates the System.

sudo fwupdmgr refresh

sudo fwupdmgr get-updates

sudo fwupdmgr update

sudo rm /var/lib/fwupd/pending.db

These Commands are for updating the Secure Boot dbx Firmware.

Thanks ponce-de-leon and Locklear 93rd for the info and help, that pesky msg is gone. New to Zorin but I like it , gave new life and use to a 7 year old hp all-in-one that was headed for the recycle bin, thanks again.
