Animation Lag And Audio Driver issue on Zorin os Pro

Subject: Animation Lag and Audio Driver Issue on Zorin OS Pro

Hello Zorin OS Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently installed Zorin OS Pro on my Dell Inspiron N7010 with a Core i3 1st Gen, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD. While the overall performance of the OS is excellent, I have encountered two specific issues:

  1. Animation Lag:

    • Upon booting from the live USB, I noticed animation lag when minimizing or maximizing windows.
    • Ubuntu runs smoothly on the same hardware, so I suspect there might be specific optimizations or driver differences in Zorin OS Pro.
  2. Realtek Audio Driver:

    • On Windows, I have Realtek audio with SRS Premium Sound, but I'm facing challenges finding a suitable driver for Linux.
    • Ubuntu, on the other hand, works seamlessly with the audio hardware.

I have explored the "Additional Drivers" utility in Zorin OS Pro but haven't found a resolution. I'm reaching out to the community to seek advice and possible solutions. Any insights, recommendations, or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Hardware Details:

  • Dell Inspiron N7010
  • Core i3 1st Gen
  • 8GB RAM
  • Integrated Intel HD Graphics
  • 128GB SSD

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!

Best regards,
hasnain

Zorin OS comes with more bling bling out of the box - which may be the cause. In Zorin Appearance you can disabled it. Note everything runs slower/laggier whe running from USB stick than normal installation.

If you have sound, you'll good to go. Are tere any specific issue with the sound? The driver is built in the kernel, so you shouldn't install anything.
