Well just booted my VM of Zorin 18.1 with Plasma and launchpad is still not available. Only Plasma themes (icons) updates available.
Not working for me either. Made several attempts to update software this morning, all failed. Launchpad content is not accessible.
I'm on arch, ubuntu is some kind of bad system.
Canonical, instead of taking it and quietly fixing everything, took it and made it public about the bugs, and now why are they attacking them there, well, think about it.
with a hole in the kernel, it went to the site = script and you are no longer the owner of sudo..
the site has been down for almost a Sunday, how long will it last, let them pay, they don't know how - just fix everything quietly!!
they just put it on their users, that's what you need to know.
Their status page shows Launchpad outage as "Resolved" but it doesn't seem to be resolved at all as of a minute ago. Quite a mess at Canonical.
Failed to fetch https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/apps/ubuntu/dists/noble/InRelease Could not connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:443 (185.125.190.80), connection timed out
So instead of quietly fixing everything, they started trumpeting it to the whole world, and now they wonder why they're being attacked there.
I'll say more, the terminal sees the update, say, once, but the system installer can't connect to the servers in any way. Installing half of the updates is like a lottery, whether the video card driver will work or I'll have to wait another six months until they fix it or attack them!
I have the question about this topic: why is write about attack and CVE? Is these situacion are connection?
Well Arch has/had it's Issues , too to be Fair.
It seems that here is a Missunderstanding. The CopyFail Vulnerability is not limited to Ubuntu. It is a common Kernel Issue.
The Hacker Attack on Canonical is another Topic - and that they infrom the Users that they got attacked and have Issues is simply Communication to let the User know what happened and why the Stuff doesn't work. Doing that is a good Thing.
It is not a good thing to mislead the users and show all systems as being operational while Archive, LaunchPad, and Security are experiencing major outages.
It has been impossible to update Zorin software for more than two days already.
I didn't said that the Issue is over. The Status Reports doesn't seem to be quite well organized. I could imagine that they don't run everything at one Time out. I guess they Double-check the Stuff and then open it Part for Part. At then End we have to wait. Better we wait a bit longer as have Follow-Up Issues because of opening everything too fast.
You aren't the problem of course. Canonical being disorganized is. Their failure to keep the status updates organized defeats the very purpose of status updates, doesn't it?
Ubuntu servers..................................unavailable — a situation .............after the failed disclosure of information about a serious vulnerability.
here is the full news story, if anyone can't read it and understand it properly I've shortened it above for you.
Servers for Ubuntu and its parent company Canonical were taken down Thursday morning and have remained inaccessible since then — a situation that has prevented the OS vendor from communicating normally after the botched disclosure of a serious vulnerability.
What do we conclude from this, that Canonical couldn't keep their mouths shut and quietly fix everything!
They've reported the kernel vulnerability everywhere - will there still be questions about why they had this problem?
why do they write that the resource worked 2 hours ago.
when it hangs dead every time I look there, it's such a joke, guess the truth?
go to their trap now, look there everything hangs dead and go in 1:54, in almost 2 hours it will show you that everything worked.
They lie very well about the situation when I can't update for 3 days, I go there every time I look, I go in 2 hours and it shows me like this - everything worked, now it doesn't work.
yes yes it's in the hands of these vile Microsoft especially when they found out about the vulnerabilities, they may be trying to get users back in this way.
I don't rule out your guesses.
Yes. Here would be the Question if these Updates are automatically made or manually. But yes, it could be better organized.
Again: The Kernel Scurity Issue is a common one, not one from Ubuntu only. And Ubuntu offers an Update - but that do others, too. There are a bunch of Kernel Updates to fix that on several OSes.
A friendly Moderator Warning: Let's don't start with unproofen Accusations and Conspiracy Theories.
I personally, would never attempt to update my GPU driver, with the update servers in this kind of state. If the update goes bad, you can disable your whole system, with a GPU update gone bad, same way with kernal updates.
I think its best to wait, wait till Ubuntu gets everything fixed, then updates their security. If they could be so easily hacked, they can be hacked again, so Ubuntu needs to take this seriously and fix their stuff.
so for Zorin OS alone the figure exceeded 2,000,000 downloads and I think that even 50% or maybe more remained on this system, not to mention other distributions.
in Windows 11 everything became so bad that people with normal equipment, which is not yet the oldest, simply ran away, why did I switch, because I have no desire to change the system every update!
we are not accusing anyone without reason yet, these are just our guesses and assumptions, nothing more!
We don't have evidence to officially accuse anyone, it's like a theory - the incident is large-scale, so there will be an investigation and they will tell us everything)
I honestly don't believe that some group is doing this - that says give us money and we'll be done.
Then these attacks will be useful and will help Canonical identify security problems and spend money wisely so that something like this doesn't happen again, the longer the attacks, the greater the chance of identifying those who are doing this.
PS: I just supported the person in his assumptions because I switched for the same reason that not updating = something is broken, what fixes flash drive and changing to a new system is just ridiculous, if you take into account the fact that I switched to it from 10pro at the beginning without all sorts of TPM2.0 and other things and it worked stably until April 2025, then in June 2025 the xbox services were broken, then in August 2025 the update was not installed again - this was the last time I installed it, I didn't wait for the October update, I just went and installed Zorin OS, sat down, figured out everything, configured it once and had no problems in principle.
That's why I'm saying that updating the kernel or driver without all the components is just throwing the system away, something will definitely break, and updating is a 50/50 lottery, one thing works = the other doesn't.
I don't want to update yet, I've already had situations with a similar update, I don't want to repeat it.
Possible to move this thread to "General Help" forum as I think it will lessen the amount of newer threads created in regards to the same issue. I'll leave it in your hands to decide. ![]()
May be a long wait. Their status page is claiming all components are operational, yet the reality is different:
Err:14 https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/stable/ubuntu noble InRelease
Unable to connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:https:
W: Failed to fetch https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/apps/ubuntu/dists/noble/InRelease Could not connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:443 (185.125.190.80), connection timed out
Moved to General Help
Did it get fixed...I'm hoping so. Terminal seems to be working now with no fail errors on ppa.launchpadcontent
