Another video talking about Linux

This video's just about Pewdiepie deciding to install and try linux. Has some notes about why you possibly shouldn't try it, as well.

Never been the biggest fan of Pewdiepie, a little loud for me, but since hes calmed down a bit in that regard, makes the videos watchable for me.

I have always hated that guy, he's one of the most annoying in our human species, right next to Fred, who came before him. Youtuber's like him, cash in on the immaturity of children, basically using them for views, which boosts the Youtubers monetization figures.

If such Youtuber's actually acted like normal human beings, they would be boring to children, as most of their appeal, would go towards adults. Also, keep in mind, PweDiePie is also a known racist, take his opinions with a grain of salt.

Never heard of the guy. So decided to watch it and 1min in I was irritated AF.
Thats as far as I got. I don't think I'll give a rats ∆r$ about his opinion on ANY matter lol.

I don't know him. It's nice that he seems to like Linux. But the Way he describes it and this whole ... Attitute, I find exhausting I must say. When it would be more ... calm, I would find it more pleasent.

Compared to how he used to be, I never used to be able to watch him for a second when he was big. He's still a bit tiring , but it's a lot better.

If you can get past the first rough part, that is. That's still pretty tiring.

To bring something a little bit different to the doom and gloom () so far in the replies - I used to watch Pewds before, I found some of his content fun for a period of time, back in high school.

I think it's great someone with such a huge platform is promoting Linux in a mostly positive light, if it brings over more people it may help with the goal of more software/game support for Linux we all want.

Correct, no normal adult would like him. Of course teenagers of this generation know him, he literally appeals to GenZ. But here's the thing, once adult maturity kicks in, the draw of PewDiePie fades away.

I tend to follow those who've actually lived a couple generations, and know what real life is like, not those that were born yesterday, and like to make funny faces and goofy sounds like their 8 years old.

Another person to stay away from who's popular with kids, is JackSepticEye. The name alone should tell you what you need to know. Hes just as nuts, makes crazy voices, sounds, silly faces, and does a stupid whippish top of the morning to you laddies intro.

Markiplier who's also famous, and is doing his own film movies now. I would say he mostly caters to children, due to his crazy energetic mouth noises, gibberish, and his own invented slang words. Having said that, he does have some appeal to adults.

Mark has uploaded videos before, showing how much he cares about others, videos about his mom who means the world to him. Overall, hes a really nice guy, who seems to have a nice heart. So, I tend to respect him when hes normal.

I tend to watch YouTubers who are less popular, and act normal. As such, I love watching Fooster's lets plays, he's fun to watch. When he plays with his friend Fisk from the Netherlands, those 2 are so funny together. lol

Admittedly, I only had a vague idea of who "PewDiePie" was, but after watching this video for a minute and seeing how he has 110 million subscribers (wow), there's no doubt this will help fuel adoption of Linux. Not saying it's gonna be "the year of Linux" yet, but this will definitely help make it happen eventually.

He used to be the #1 YTer in the world but now has a family so has slacked off a bit.

All the YT Linux channels are stunned at his rapid progress. He couldn't be more enthusiastic. Quite a contrast with the LTT fiasco.

I haven't kept up with what he's doing, but saying he slacked off seems a bit harsh. Family is an achievement in its own regard, especially if he took the time off to invest in it (which I am just assuming he did, again - I don't keep up with his life)

I don't think we're going to have an official Year of the Linux desktop, unless something major and unexpected happens, like millions of people flocking to Linux in a short period of time, or governments/companies pushing for it.

There isn't one tipping point, it's gradually becoming better and a real option for more and more people, which is pretty exciting to witness😄
