Spend a lot of time to learn about the Nexus Mod Manager called Vortex and i think it's worth sharing this.
-
Easiest way to get an up to date Vortex, is to download the setup for latest stable release and install it with the Lutris Client as Windows Software. Here Lutris fetched missing Windows Extensions to get Vortex running. If you use the Lutris suggestion, you get an stone old and slow Vortex that is unreliable.
-
Vortex use hardlinks to fade the mods into the gamefolders. Urgent remark, it does this partition wise and cannot span to another. But you can install several Vortex instances under Lutris.
-
The Bottle-Neck: Because we are in Linux, Vortex and every Steam or GOG game is in a different Wine Bottle than Vortex, we have to workaround. The savegame folder and app folder from the game has to be linked (right mouse button) and moved into the Vortex folder structure.
Now we have a base setup, where Vortex can handle a lot of installed games with it's plugins. As example in Starfield we can mix Nexusmods and Creations for the gameplay.
Final Hint: Have a separate /home partition, so this must only be setup once.
