Asus ExpertBook P3540FA Fingerprint drivers

You may need to use the recovery prompt to run the command.
Instead of choosing a different kernel under Advanced Options, choose a kernel with the (Recovery) tag.
In the recovery menu, arrowk key down to Root - Drop to Prompt

Then run

sudo apt remove --purge fprintd libpam-fprintd

Then proceed to:

I did use the recovery command line but I misspelled fprintd...

sudo apt install install fprintd libpam-fprintd
Try enrolling fingerprint...

Same issue. I think I'll give up. This fingerprint sensor is never detected:
