I have tried everything I can to get this OS to install properly. My BIOS is the most recent 306 version released in 2020. Fastboot and Secure Boot is disabled. When booting from my UEFI USB, I can get to the install options screen, but no matter what parameters I set forcing Intel i915 drivers on install, nomodeset, etc the screen is backlit but blank for well over 20 minutes and never gets further than this. I see that some people have it working fine on ZenBooks but I seem to be hopeless. Currently running EndeavourOS and have had Mint Cinnamon installed previously with no issues, everything working out of the box.
Does anyone have a fix for this beyond what I have already tried? I really love the simplicity and look of this OS and would love to use it for school.
on zenbooks that blank after the installer menu, even with nomodeset, ive had better luck with:
boot the live USB, at grub hit e, add nomodeset i915.modeset=0 on the linux line, then ctrl-x
if it still blanks, try the opposite once: drop nomodeset and use i915.enable_psr=0 i915.enable_dc=0 (psr/dc quirks bite some UX boards)
also try the USB in a USB2 port if you have one. some UX434 units hate USB3 install media
since EndeavourOS and Mint already work on that machine, the hardware is fine. it is almost always the Zorin live kernel + i915 handoff. if you get a tty with ctrl-alt-f2 behind the blank screen you can finish install from there and fix graphics after first boot.
