My audio would start to malfunction after playing a video for a few minutes (the longest it can play an audio properly is 5 mins before it starts to malfunction again), the audio would be cut off and there's a beep like sound that would play (it is the same sound that a tv would play when there's no signal) and that beep sound would be gone a few seconds after you close the tab. I tried to play a YouTube video again and the same thing happens. But if I'm using gmeet/zoom/teams the audio would be usually fine for a few minutes then it will be gone, there's no beep sound unlike in youtube, the audio would be just suddenly gone
This is an HP Chromebook 11 G5 running on Zorin Core. I don't really know much about linux in general since it's my first time using one and I always use windows, so I hope you can help me
this works for me, thank you! However, my audio is no longer as loud as before, even when the volume is in full. Is that normal? If not, how do I fix that?
In your settings>sound are the sliders for volume at maximum?
You could also run alsamixer, hit F6 to choose your soundcard and look how the volume sliders are set.
You could also install pavucontrol
sudo apt install pavucontrol
Please change the Zorin version in your forum's profile to Zorin core or do you use also Zorin lite?
It's good now, thanks! And no, I only have core now since I just switched from lite yesterday, so I haven't had the chance to edit my profile yet. Thanks for the help and the reminder
If Zorin Core does not run well on the device, Zorin Lite would be worth trying again, as it requires fewer resources (Chromebooks usually have little RAM and an underpowered processor). Zorin Lite will be supported until June 2029.
I tried following that before adding the options snd_sof_debug=1 but it only made the beeping sound louder and longer, to the point that I had to restart my laptop to stop it, since just closing the tab didn’t work anymore. My audio is fine now though, still thank you for the suggestion
You could switch to Xorg - as it makes less problems on Zorin. Logout and at loginscreen click on your username, then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right. There you set "Zorin desktop on Xorg". Then login with your password. This setting will be kept until you change it.
Zorin lite uses XOrg by default.
If you have a touchscreen try both - sometimes wayland supports better touchscreen gestures.
