I have deleted Windows partition and resized the Zorin one on HP probook 455 g4. This seems to cause the audio to stop working. At least it worked before. I am running Zorin 18 Core. I have tried every troubleshooting option listed in Zorin online manual regarding sound problems. Toggled with alsamixer, pulse audio, ran a few commands. nothing seems to work. Thanks
Hi and welcome.
Can you post back the results of:

Hello, did you try to disable secure boot and fast boot from BIOS ?
Welcome to the Forum!
I guess, You use built-in Speakers? When You connect (wired or wireless) Headphones or external Speakers, do You have Sound then?
This is what I got
Audio:
Device-1: AMD Kabini HDMI/DP Audio vendor: Hewlett-Packard
driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus-ID: 00:01.1 chip-ID: 1002:9840
class-ID: 0403
Device-2: AMD Family 15h Audio vendor: Hewlett-Packard
driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus-ID: 00:09.2 chip-ID: 1022:157a
class-ID: 0403
API: ALSA v: k6.17.0-22-generic status: kernel-api
Server-1: PipeWire v: 1.0.5 status: active with: 1: pipewire-pulse
status: active 2: wireplumber status: active 3: pipewire-alsa type: plugin
4: pw-jack type: plugin
no sound at all through inbuilt speaker nor headphones. I wonder what the external Scarlet focusrite interface will do when I get back home from work
I disabled the secure boot in BIOS and it worked! Thanks loads! Can you explain why this worked?
Thanks for the fast support everyone! Disabling of secure boot seems to have solved it!
Secure boot was made for Windows to protect it. Secure Boot is a security feature that prevents unauthorized software from being loaded when the computer boots, ensuring that the operating system is genuine and secure. It may cause some problems with Linux Kernel like your for example.
Makes sense, thanks again!
You're welcome, just don't forget to make this topic as resolved
