Experiences with recording guitars in linux?

I have a Zoom UAC8 with compliant mode but i never get to make it properly work in linux so i'm considering getting a smaller one like a Focusrite which has open source software and drivers.
I've put pipewire on my 17.2 installation and use a focusrite gen 3 2i2. The focusrite was easy to get up and running.
There's an unofficial app, which focusrite have put some support behind too: Focusrite Extends Help to Linux Developer to Enable Driver Support
Doesn't do much on the 2i2 but looks useful on the fancier units.
I've not used the setup extensively but when I have it's all worked as expected.
Seem to recall pipewire was a bit of a pain to get running but that might be my relative inexperience with desktop Linux.
