Can you please try:

sudo apt purge bcmwl-kernel-source

sudo apt install firmware-b43-installer

Welcome to the forum.

Is it the setup you were talking in another thread?

I've never installed Linux on a USB key but I am sure there is someone in this forum who can give you an advice.

update
tried zorin 15.3 on said laptop, install to SSD
and wifi would not connect
wifi card is bcm4312
dmesg would note wifi would DEAUTHenticate often in a loop.

seems like a regression in kernel 5.x.x
since it does the same on MX21 [kernel 5.x]
and slack linux 11 or 15 with kernel 5.x
MX Linux 19 uses kernel 4.x and b43 does work & connect to
B/G/N or B/G wifis

Maybe something here worth a read:

If not, try another websearch using "bcm4312 wifi Ubuntu 18.04" (basis of Z15)
