Hello everyone,
I’m on Z18 and Déjà Dup V45.2 was installed automatically. I realised that there’s a Flathub V50.1
I found the following information after doing some research online:
Sticking with version 45.2 of Deja-Dup on Ubuntu 24.04 carries the major risk of no longer being able to restore backups created with newer or older versions, due to changes in the encryption and compression engine (switch from duplicity to restic depending on the configuration).
My question:
I imagine that the Zorin team will keep the Deja-Dup package at version V45.2 for Z18. But in the future, when Z19 arrives, the Deja-Dup version will jump a version and there will no longer be compatibility for restoring backups made under Z18.
What do you think?
1 - Should I replace version 45.2 with version 50.1 right now and recreate a series of backups?
2 - Or should I instead get organised just before switching to Zorin 19 so that I can simply copy all the user data?
Well, I might be getting a bit ahead of myself with this question, but I’d really like to hear your opinion. ![]()
