Battery on 0% not charging but working without the laptop being plugged in

Today I woke my HP probook with Zorin 18 and the battery icon in the tray shows 0% and that it is not charging. However, the computer runs even without being pluged in. I would like to boot to older kernel to see if that fixes the issue but my keyboard stopped working in the boot menu for some reason too. This is really annoying as I have been enjoying the OS so much. Any ideas? Many thanks. Here are the battery stats from upower:

Update: I managed to boot into the older kernel, the problem remains though

Do You have some kind of Indicator Light on Your Laptop what shows if the Machine loads or not?

Not sure what you mean. But the laptop starts alright. The battery indicator in the tray shows 0%, yet, the laptop keeps running when unplugged. There is an orange light next to the charging port, it starts blinking when unplugged.

That I meant with Indicator Light. Stops the Blinking after a While? When You plug in the Cable does it change?

when i plug in the cable it stops blinking

I finally solved the issue. The battery seemed to have stopped communicating with board. So I performed a hard reset by holding the power button for 30-45 seconds thus draining the remainder of energy and then turned the laptop on. Apparently, the battery displays the correct charge percentage now!
