I have the problem that i currently can only start my PC in nomodeset as i can t find any drivers for the AMD Radeon™ 880M.
Does anyone know what to do it is my first Linux System so i basically know nothing.
I got everything to work even apps like plex but obviously it doesn t work too good since it s in nomodeset.
The drivers for amd/radeon are included in the kernel. As you have new hardware and Zorin is a LTS distribution you may need a later kernel. You could try to install the tuxinvader kernel and install kernel 6.12.
Probably you also need newer mesa drivers. You can add this ppa to get them.
Because this is relatively new Hardware, I think the used 6.8 Kernel in Zorin is too old and You should try a newer Kernel. You could try the zorin 18 Beta with the 6.14 Kernel and see if that works.
I would have Doubts that it do, but testing is worth a Try. If it don't work, You can install a newer Kernel with the Mainline Tool. Instructions are here:
When You use Mainline, i would suggest to take new 6.17 Kernel. And disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS. And if Windows is installed, disable Fast Start-Up in Windows, too.
Thank you so much for the fast answers. I installed the Liquorix-Kernel 6.9.1 and now everything works. I wouldn't have made it without you guys and gemini.
Thanks again!
No actually the one i wrote. I couldn't find any other kernel but it works now.
Now i just need to find a way to make plex not stutter when i watch a video and get HDR to work.
