Hi and welcome. I stopped using Skype after Microsoft took it over. It could indicate any number of things:

a. You have more than one instance of Skype running;

b. You have 4 unread messages;

c. You have 4 contacts on line.

Look in the app for more information.

Seriously you would be better off using https://meet.jit.si than Skype.

Note: Skype will be retired on May 5, 2025. It is being let go and (Microsoft) users expected to use Teams instead with same credentials.
I assume your reference to Skype may however have been used as an example of "[4]" indication.

For clarity mainly personal versions of Skype:

"...However, the company is not retiring all versions of Skype. Support for on-premises deployments of Skype for Business Server and Lync Server 2013 remains unaffected by this."

What makes me laugh is when I was using Teams for Linux during lockdown, when running processes in Devuan it was identified as Skype for Business. I had such a poor experience with Teams for Linux I insisted work use https://meet.jit.si. It was so good, colleague at work forgot to end his connection for 3 days.

The title shown in the windows is typically controlled by the program itself, so this really should be asked to their support directly. Keep in mind what @zabadabadoo said about Skype being retired soon; I can also vouch for Jitsi Meet as an excellent alternative.
