Best way to go from dual boot to zorin only

I've been running 17.3 pro in dual boot with win11 for about six months and hardly ever use windows. I mostly kept it for tax season because HRBlock software won't run on linux however there were problems with tax software this year and I ended up doing them manually in Zorin instead.

What is the easiest way of moving over to single boot Zorin? I think I'll do 17.3 pro for now and then 18 pro later,

You can use the partition manager to delete the Windows OS partition, then select the Zorin OS partition - select resize and use the slider to slide over - reclaiming the partition space that Windows OS used to claim.

You can use efibootmgr to identify, then remove the Windows OS bootloader.

That's it.

I finally got around to doing this.

Went into Gparted, selected the Windows partition, unmounted it then deleted it. This is what I got.

I tried to resize the Zorin partition but it will not seem to allow me to make it more than a tiny bit bigger than it is now. Maybe because the unallocated space feed up from windows is to the left?

I'm feeling a bit lost here.

Are you resizing the Zorin OS partition while booted into it?

OR while booted into LiveUSB with the Zorin OS Partition unmounted?

I'm booted into it. From your question, I guess I need to find my USB boot stick and reboot into it, right? Then unmount the partition? Then try again and then remount? Then reboot back into Zorin.

Exactly, you want to perform any changes or FileSystemChecK on unmounted partitions.

One more quick question. When I went to close Gparted prior to rebooting to liveUSB it said I had one operation pending. I am assuming this must be the deletion, but it is probably half an hour ago I did that. Do i just quit anyway and see what is happening when I go to live USB?

Yes, you can just quit. It is a selection you made; it is not in Progress.

All done, thanks. Wow! I thought Zorin was fast already compared to Windows but now it's like it's on steroids with everything I do.

Thats because you dont have 200+ processes runing all the time not to mention the ones you couldnt see.... :wink:
