Just saw this OS on YouTube and thought it looked interesting .... but not sure if it would work for me for several reasons ...
First it uses KDE DE I tried it years ago and didn't like it .... if I could switch it to Cinnamon DE I would be much happier ....
Not a big fan of the name BigLinux sounds like a Grammar School bully .... LOL
It is developed in Brazil and they claim it has been around for about 19 years but this is the first time I have heard of it ..... now it is plastered all over YouTube even comparing BigLinux to Zorin ... Mint etc. ....
It is based on Arch and Manjaro and found this info from DistroWatch .....
BigLinux is a Brazilian Linux distribution localised into Brazilian Portuguese (with support for English). It is was originally based on Kubuntu, but starting from 2017 the distribution was re-born based on deepin. It then offered two desktop environments - Cinnamon and Deepin. In 2021 the distribution switched bases and desktop environments again, migrating to Manjaro Linux and using the KDE Plasma desktop.
Kinda looks like they made major changes at least twice so this makes me wonder about their stability ..... I know Mint and Zorin make changes but there is a big difference to me between changing a few apps and changing DE's ....
Any way JMHO .... what are your thoughts ????? .....

Artix is based off Arch but uses its own repos and adding Arch repos is not recommended. In addition each DE .iso has different init .isos also so no systemd. You choose the DE with your preferred init .iso.
I like their installation slideshow, especially the still of Moebius from The Matrix with the caption "Did you know systemd is an Agent?".
They used to offer Gnome but removed it in June last year because of the way Gnome was going. They state they would like to have a working Gnome DE in the future, but as it stands, seems more and more less likely.
I already heard of it and saw some Videos a while ago. Because I'm not an Arch Type and Plasma isn't my Cup of Tea, I didn't tried it. But as far as I heard, it seems to be a nice Distro.
I guess, You can do that. but You would get the Vanilla Cinnamon Desktop without Adjustments. And then would be the Question why You would use the Distro anyway.
Thanks swarf I'm rely not wanting to leave Mint yet as it meets all my requirements I was really just wanting to know how others felt about the OS ....
I'll keep Artix Linux in mind should I want to change my OS in the future but I will read up on it from your link ....
