Biometric scanner button option not available

Can't get biometric fingerprint scanner to work on hp 8440.

I did some websearches using" Validity Sensors, Inc. VFS451 Fingerprint Reader ubuntu 22.04"
Found numerous reports of not registered and not working but no obvious fix.
I did get to this bug report: Bug #1966911 “Cannot enroll finger on Jammy” : Bugs : libfprint-2-tod1-goodix
Some say fingerprint worked on Ubuntu 20.04 but not Ubuntu 22.04 due to change in libfprint. Also new libfprint being tested. Have a read.
I guess new libfprint has not found its way into Z17.3 (based on Ubuntu 22.04)
