Sometimes—though not always—when starting Zorin OS 18.1, the system gets stuck on a black screen after the initial logo and fails to reach the desktop. In these instances, the only way I can access the desktop is by using a specific key combination: first pressing Ctrl+Alt+F3, followed by Ctrl+Alt+F2. I am using the default GNOME desktop environment, and I have automatic login enabled (no password required).

Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? If Windows is still installed: Is Fast Start-Up in Windows disabled?
Also: Deactivate Automatic Login and see if it behaves different then.
Hi, thanks for answering!
yes, fast boot and secure boot are disabled in BIOS and Windows, I just have to try disabling automatic startup of Zorin OS
You ca try to boot to Older kernel
- Restart the PC and press Escape during boot to access the GRUB menu (may also be accessed with Shift)
- Select "Advanced options for Zorin OS"
- Here, you can see the available kernels to boot into. Choose the older one (without recovery option)
