Bluetooth headphones not staying as active audio output device

I have a Dell Inc. Latitude 5430 and am able to attach a variety of headphones via bluetooth. My issue is keeping the output device set to my headset. I use a kvm to share monitor, keyboard and mouse between several laptops including my Zorin machine. I have to switch between machines for work and personal computers. When I switch back to Zorin the audio output device is no longer set to my bluetooth headphones- it's usually set to Digital Output (S/PDIF) - USB PnP Audio Device. I can change the output device back to headset and audio works fine- I'd just rather not have to change it each time I switch back to Zorin. I tried a usb connected headset and ran into the same problem plus now there's a cord. Any workarounds or thoughts?

You could try it with Pulse Audio Volume control, a Tool for set up Audio Input and Output. You can install it with sudo apt install pavucontrol

When installled, open it, go to the Output Tab and mark Your Headset as Fallback. click on this:

Reboot and see if it works.
