Brave gets laggy when theres a new private tab

Hi. I am using ZorinOS for about 2 years now. There is no problem before when opening Brave Browser.

Until, I upgrade my GPU. Never formatted, just plug and play to upgrade.

GT 1050 to RX 580.

Below are the specifications of my computer.

My PC is also dual booted with Windows10 (gaming purposes)

Every time I used private tab, it like hangs up a bit but i can still type and proceed the type after the hang for about 3 seconds and it does always when private window is open like affecting the whole brave. like each 30 seconds there will be a lag. This is a weird report or small issue. But just posting here maybe some people encountered it.

Maybe there is a gpu driver that is malfunctioning or not properly configured nor installed? I dont have any idea.

Hi, have you tried a different browser? It may take a bit of getting used to, but I have the App Image of Zen Browser on Zorin 17.3 Core.

@nielle . I see from your screenshot you are using Wayland Windowing. As you have Nvidia graphics, you should be using Xorg windowing and not default Wayland.
Change that from your login screen, i.e. click your password field and look for cog icon bottom right of screen to change to Xorg (X11). See if that helps.

Switch to xorg. High possibility it's interfere with Brave. Nvidia and wayland combined are not ready on Zorin.

When you now have an AMD GPU, did you uninstall the Nvidia Driver? If not, open the Terminal and type sudo apt purge nvidia*

I think it was a Change from Nvidia to AMD.

Ah. I now looked again at the screenshot and it lists "Radeon RX 580....
Fair cop, so it's not Nvidia.
It may still be worth trying Xorg instead of Wayland to test the response, but can go back to Wayland if no change and if Wayland is preferred.

Seems OK on even my resource strangled lappy.

No fancy GPU though and using Xorg
