Brave Origin

Thanks for that link on Brave version differences Forpli .....

This is a game changer for me ....

Admin Policies Not affected. Since features aren't present, they cannot be forced on by IT admins. Managed device policies can override your local Origin toggles.

Managed device policies can override your local Origin toggles.

That means that in the Stand Alone version IT admins can never turn on a choice you made to turn off because those choices have been removed where as choosing the Upgrade Path they can turn on what you have turned off ....

Down side of Stand Alone .....

Any new features we release (outside the core of Brave Shields) would not appear in the standalone Brave Origin app. The features will be compiled out of the build

(Version definition)

Currently the version are defined as above.
Just after the notification that Linux users are free for Brave Origin, only the command for nightly version installation is disclosed, I suppose.

The difference between nightly version and the release version I experienced is I couldn’t see the rain cloud rader on nightly version, but I could on the release version. Needless to say, I replaced it with the release version.Just for your information.

Any more feedback on Brave Origin generally?
Who is using it, whats good and whats not so?

using it regularly. no problems.

Use it as BackUp Browser for the Case Firefox should have an Issue with a Website. So, I don't use it too much. But when I use it, it is fine so far. It is at the End a Browser - but in Comparison to the regular Brave without the whole AI, Crypto and Ad Model Stuff that they have.

It might be a bit ... how can I say that ... difficult to offer that and wanting Money for it when the other Brave is packed with this. It feels a bit like Extortion or Protection Money. Not, that I wouldn't understand their Point but as I said: It feels a bit like that.

i reading Brave is a corporation project but firefox non-proft.

Enjoyed the video. Whilst Firefox might be non-profit, unfortunately it is heavily dependent on Google funding and a flim-flam privacy policy.
Ii won't use Brave browser, but have used it's search engine if Mojeek hasn't come up with the goods. I prefer forks of Firefox, zen and LibreWolf.

I mainly use Firefox with u block origin or Vivaldi, which I like the feel of. I have one site that seems to display better in Brave, and being able to block YouTube ads is certainly a plus. I think those 3 all have their good and bad points. I won't touch Chrome with a ten foot pole now, and I avoid Meta and Google like the plague. I always turn the AI and data reporting stuff off on any browser.
