Brave versus Firefox

Now using Zorin 17.3...........

I don't want Brave as my default browser. Instead, Firefox (FF) is my default.

I have been using FF for many years, ever since it was called "Phoenix." Over the years, I have always been an ardent supporter of Mozilla, through donations as well as (sometimes) providing input concerning issues that needed fixing.

Therefore I am sticking with FF, with Opera (another long-time outfit) as my back-up.

Sad to say, Zorin is acting a bit like Microsoft in that, even though I have set Firefox as my default browser, Firefox needs to ask for default designation almost every time I use it after doing a startup or restart.

QUESTION: Is anyone having the same default issue as me? If so, I can live with it. If not, what might I be doing wrong?

I don't use either. I specifically installed 17.2 Core to avoid getting Brave, removed Firefox and use the App Image of Zen a fork of Firefox. But Zorin is only on for helping out here. My first choice is PCLOS Debian KDE Plasma, and second choice rolling release of Q4OS.

When You don't like Brave, You can uninstall it - and You can delete the Repo Files, too if You want.

And have You installed Firefox as Flatpak or APT/.deb Package?

I think this will depend on how you've installed Firefox, but you should be able to select the default browser through Settings → Default Applications.

I have installed Firerfox as a flatpak and set it as default and have no further problems. Everything works as usual.

I used default applications, as suggested by zenzen/. That fixed the problem. THANKS to all, especially zenzen!!!

I've marked the reply above as the solution for the thread, although I should point out that @Dexxa reply was also pretty helpful to me, a it clarifies that the installation method doesn't seem to matter in this case.
