Bug: Process "gjs" uses a lot of CPU - no desktop icons - computer freezes quickly

Since today, my computer doesn't show desktop icons and the fan gets very loud. I found out that the process gjs uses a lot of CPU. When I open programs, the whole computer gets very slow and eventually freezes completely. After reboot (remove battery), zorin boots normally but gjs still takes a lot of CPU and the problems start again.
Anyone facing this problem as well? What can I do to solve it?
Quitting the process doesn't help.
Also, sudo apt reinstall gnome-shell-extension-zorin-desktop-icons doesn't help either.
My Zorin 16.2 Pro is up-to-date

Can you post your computer specs or a screenshot of screenfetch or neofetch?

I see them usually to 0, virtual memory and memory instead is other stuff :flushed:.

One manages Gnome shell notifications while the other manages Zorin Desktop icons.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I found the source of the problem. Files names containing German Umlauts (ä,ö,ü) were automatically renamed quite some time ago. For example,
12ü3.pdf
was renamed to
123.pdf (ungültige Kodierung)
Ungültige Kodierung means invalid encoding.

I don't know when the renaming happened, it was quite some months or even years ago. Today I copied such a file to the desktop which made all desktop icons disappear, gjs using lots of CPU and freezing the computer.
Changing the file name in nautilus fixed the issue.
