I'm using Zorin 18 with disk encryption. Because my Bluetooth keyboard is not yet recognized at that point, I boot with the keyboard layout of the built-in laptop keyboard (which is French).
After booting, when I see the login prompt of my user account, my Bluetooth keyboard is already usable. Unfortunately I don't find how to change the layout to this layout (German), which would make typing much easier and allow me to use German characters.
When I lock the session, I see the keyboard layout icon in the top bar of the login screen, but not directly after booting. Is there any setting where I can enable that menu also on the first login screen?
When You have have more that one Keyboard Layout set up, You should see in the Taskbar an Indicator for that. When You are on the Login Screen, there should be an Indicator for it in the top right Corner if I remember corectly.
This seems to be the solution suggested at Different keyboard on login screen, but it also changes the layout for the disc encryption. Since I still don't have Bluetooth at that point, I need to keep the layout of the built-in keyboard.
Booting from zero: No taskbar indicator on the login screen. Booting after hibernation: No taskbar indicator on the login screen. After suspend/locking the screen: Login screen has a taskbar indicator.
