I’m having trouble accessing my Android phone’s files using Zorin Connect. Even though I’ve granted all the necessary permissions on my phone and in the Zorin Connect app, I still receive an error message saying I don’t have permission to view the contents of “/” on my phone’s IP address (192.168.1.x). The folders all show up as empty.
I’ve already checked my firewall settings and made sure both devices are on the same network. All other features of Zorin Connect (notifications, SMS, etc.) work perfectly. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’d really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you in advance!
This looks like you are trying to access your Phones Root Directory (/) on a non-rooted phone, rather than accessing the Storage Medium which will usually be /sdcard or something like /storage/emulated/0
On the Zorin Connect, app, are you able to enter your settings and direct to the permitted non-Root shared folders?
Hello, I’m sorry, but I didn’t quite understand what was said. I'm a beginner in Linux and I didn't fully understand what you meant. Are you saying that I'm trying to access my phone's root directory, which isn't allowed on a non-rooted device? I simply clicked on "mount" in Zorin Connect, and it automatically mounted my phone as a partition. How can I access my phone's storage (like /sdcard or /storage/emulated/0) instead of the root? I'd appreciate it if you could explain this in simpler terms. Thank you!
I'm having the same problem. In my android app i don't have this option anymore after last update and this is the main problem. It's not possible to set target folder in phone memory from zorin connect app.
Due to my usage of Zorin OS Lite rather than Core, I do not actually use Zorin Connect since ZorinGroup does not include a version in Lite.
Instead, I use KDE Connect, upon which GSConnect and ZorinConnect are forked.
So I do not actually have the means (At the moment) to directly observe this issue.
I may need to boot up a Live Core and test.
Any other Zorin Core and Connect users may be able to look at this.
Ideally, is a recent update to Zorin Connect package caused the cessation of a feature, the devs should be alerted. So, if you can provide any screenshots or additional information, that may help.
Try restarting both your phone and PC, then reconnecting Zorin Connect. Also, check if File Sharing is enabled in the Zorin Connect app on your phone. If the issue persists, try accessing files via KDE Connect to see if it's a Zorin-specific bug.
@ZorinMy
I have a similar problem as you in February. I can send files from Android to desktop but not the other direction. I see the IP of my phone, as a drive after I mount it. But it says that I do not have access rights or permission
Can you tell me where did you enter:
Thanks for the basic instruction.
As I wrote above: I am able to send files via the "Zorin Connect" app from the phone to the laptop but not the other way around.
I can use the smartphone as mousepad, I can use the laptop to make my phoe ring etc.
Strange is that in >Files (aka Nautilus) I do see the IP of the phone, but not in >Dolphin or >CoreFM
I quickly installed >KDE Connect at phone and laptop.
No problem what so ever to move files from one device to the other.
With >Zorin Connect it is still a one-way-street
...
Currently no firewall active
Wanted to try Zorin Connect again. Received error messagen that the port was already in use by other application. Deleted KDE Connetct at phone and laptop. Rebooted both devices.
Opend Zorin Connect on both. I am able to send files from laptop to phone.
I thought the option "Did you restart your device?" is only valid for Windows?
Fyi, nothing else
Just installed Z18 Pro.
The issue with Zorin Connect trying to mount by default Android root is still present, at least for Samsung phones.
Navigation to specific folders, like /storage/emulated/0, works.
