I have an old video CD, formatted with CDFS, file system...strangely enough this file format or AVSEQ01, AVSEQ02 file is not playable. I have attached the error msg for reference.....But this file can be played in Windows - VLC or Windows media player etc..... The Zorin os VLC player or others could not read or play this video file..why ??
How does it look with Codecs? when You open Gnome Software and there scroll all the Way down, You find a ''Codecs'' Category Button. Click on it and You will get an Overview with installable and installed Codecs:
Install them, make a Roboot and test if it works. Shouldn't that work, you could install additional Drivers over the Terminal. Fo this type the Command:
sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras
This is a Bundle with different Codecs and Microsoft Fonts. Because they are proprietary, You will see a Window where You have to accept a Licence Agreement. Navigate there with the Tab-Key and press Enter.
hi,
There were 6 missing codecs which were not installed. after installing those, i was able to play the files on all media players......thank you..
Even though the 6 codecs helped me with playing the video files, I still went ahead and installed the ".....restriced.extras" command...hope this won't be a problem...
That's really good to know. Maybe there are some thing that they don't include by default? VLC has always worked fine for me, and I've seen it praised precisely because it can play anything... that's a first!
PS: I've marked @Ponce-De-Leon's post as the solution for this post.
