After first command (sudo apt --fix-broken install) it says:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
Should I do that or is that a weird response at this point?
I ran that command and it said it could take some time. I waited for a little bit and it's still going.
I'll get back with you in the morning. Thanks for you help! Gotta put my knee on ice.
I couldn't wait. I iced and then checked it and ran all the commands you listed and everything looks good now and I'm back on the internet.
Was there something that didn't work right with the update on my older computer rather than my new computer that made it go haywire? I guess I won't know in the future if I should upgrade or maybe it's better to upgrade by running the command for it rather than letting the computer just download it?
I don't know much about this so it might be a strange question.
Anyway, I have all of these instructions you helped me with on standby.
Thanks!
Usually, this is caused by root lacking in needed space to download the upgrades.
I recommend always upgrading when it is offered. But, a user can avoid a lot of headaches by first running
sudo apt clean && sudo apt autoremove
Or using journalctl to vacuum the logs to reduce bloat in root.
That is very good to know.
But...........when i turned the old computer on this morning it brought up zorin with the wallpaper of the mountain there but there isn't any taskbar at the bottom. I right click and it goes to the display settings and then if I hit HELP on this screen it will ask if I want it online and I say yes and then I can get online through that way.
