I've been trying to troubleshoot for the past 2-3 hours through the forums but the similar problems that others have dont fix mine. I had to restart my system a few times since the first time it froze while I was on call with a friend and the second my screen resolution was tiny. On the third restart, it wouldnt boot up and its stuck on the Zorin logo with the MSI picture for my motherboard. Only way I can get into Zorin is through recovery mode, I tried the other kernels (I think, I'm still fairly new to linux so bare with me) but only the recovery ones have worked.
Hm.. Do you have integrated graphics and a dedicated GPU as well?
If you can - select your integrated graphics for startup, see if you get any further. If you get further than that, see what graphics driver is being used / configured to - may just be an auto-select kind of issue going on.. may..
Hi and welcome.
Is Zorin the only OS on your machine or were you attempting to install alongside Windows? Additional information required please:
-
Did you verify the SHA256 checksum of the downloaded .iso before creating boot media?
-
What USB creation tool did you use to create the installation media? (Personally I only recommend Ventoy, regardless of whether creating in Windows or GNU/Linux.)
Does that mean you have gone to "Additional Options for Zorin" and selected an older kernel generic, or did you select something else?
If an older kernel worked OK, it could have been a kernel update and consequential regression that has affected your machine.
Does older kernel boot and run OK and is it just the latest kernel that fails?
You can look if that helps:
Are secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS disabled?
Do you have a nvidia card?

Everyone has already asked great questions! So, I will only ask, what has yet to be asked.
Please give me the full specs of your MSI computer, including age of machine.
I have an MSI machine as well, I haven't seen that boot splash screen before on mine, so this is why we need details. The more we know, the more we can help.
