Choosing the Right Printer for PDF Tasks

Hey everyone, I’m planning to upgrade my home office setup and was wondering if anyone here has experience using printers that work best with PDF-XChange software. I often deal with heavy PDF editing and scanning tasks. Should I buy printers online or look for something specific in local stores to ensure better compatibility and support? Any advice or recommendations?

Hello, you can install PDF-XChange software with Wine.

As far as printers you can use with Linux, HP printers tend to work best on Linux. I would encourage you to get one with a wired connection though, the modern WIFI printers, tend to be problematic, and not worth the pain. Brother printers have the 2nd largest compatibility on Linux.

HP printers use HPLIP drivers, you can easily find in the software store, see here...

I'm using a really old HP Laserjet 2100, I'm using the ethernet connection, as I am running through my router, works great!

You can use the "Additional Printer Settings" box, to setup the specific options and settings for your printer.

If you choose to go with a Brother printer instead, the process of setting it up, will take a little more work, there is a video I found on how to do this.

If it were me, and I had the 2 choices available to me, for best compatible printers for Linux, I'd choose HP, for ease of setting up. I do recommend you get a laser printer though, I'm so not a fan of the DRM on ink cartridges.

Besides, laser printer are so much faster at printing anyways, and the ink toners last forever, especially if you rarely print. I wish you good luck!
