Chrome Incorrect Sound Output (Bluetooth)

After connecting my Bluetooth speakers (M108BT) to my system, the output is set correctly, and the sound test works fine. However, when I play audio through Google Chrome or Firefox, the sound continues to play through the headphones (or another output device) rather than the Bluetooth speakers, even though the Bluetooth speakers are set as the primary audio output.

This issue occurs on both my desktop and laptop, both running Zorin OS Core. Interestingly, movies played through the system’s media player output correctly to the Bluetooth speakers, and audio in the Brave browser works as expected. It's only Chrome and Firefox where the audio is still routed to the wrong device. I’m relatively new to Zorin OS, having switched from Linux Mint about two months ago. (M108BT is the bluetooth speaker)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

How were those browsers installed, Flatpak or Snap by any chance?

Flatpak and Snap apps are self-contained and effectively run in a sandbox. They have limited system integration as a result and that may be why other apps and sound test work OK, but they do not.

Firefox is now available as a .apt (that has also been the standard package since Z17.3, wheras Z17 originally shipped with Flatpack version)

Welcome to the Forum!

Beneath @zabadabadoo' s Advice: You could try it with the PulseAudio Volume Control. This is a Tool for set up Audio Input and Output. You can install it with the Terminal Command:

sudo apt install pavucontrol

Thank you.
Firefox came pre-installed with Zorin, so I didn't install it myself. I removed Firefox and ensured I installed it via .apt, but the issue persisted.

Thanks!
I thought PulseAudio Volume Control was included with Zorin Core by default, but I went ahead and installed it using the command you provided. In the Playback tab, I had to manually change the output to the correct one, and it worked! It's strange that the output was correct in the system volume settings, but I had to adjust it here for it to function properly.
