Computer shuts down when screen is locked

I am new to Linux and Zorin, so please be patient with me. I just switched from Mac.

Yesterday, my new Starbook arrived with Zorin 16.3. The problem I have is that as soon as the screen is locked, the computer turns off. Does anyone know why this might happen and what I can do about it?

I do want the screen to become locked after a certain time for security reasons. Also, it is quite annoying if I take a brief walk and come back after 30min and I need to restart the computer.

Hi, and welcome to the ZorinOS Community,

There are some settings that you can tweak to control the behavior of the computer when it's idle for a while, including control the screen lock and suspend modes. In particular, Settings -> Power -> Power Saving Options -> Automatic Suspend seems to be the one causing issues here. Try to change the default values to something that suits your workflow better and see if that helps.

By the way, it would be really strange that the computer did turn itself off entirely so I'm assuming that it's instead going into suspend mode. If this is not the case, there may be a whole other issue going on.

Thanks a lot. I just had the computer running while being on the phone for 10 minutes. And this time, it was locked but still working. Seems you solved the issue.

Thanks a lot!
