I'm using Zorin 17.3 Pro on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I installed Zorin on 10/20/25 (it was on Windows 8 before that). It used to shut down on the first try. Now it takes 2-3x to shut down. I click on the power symbol in the little window in the lower right side of the screen, then under "Power Off" I select "Power Off", then click the shut down option (not looking at it right now) instead of waiting 60 seconds.
It shuts down, but then starts up again. Then I don't log in, but just shut down again. Then it often starts up AGAIN.
I did change one thing that someone said would help, but it didn't. It was in Settings/Power - to make "Power Button Behavior" be "Power Off".
Any ideas? It's annoying. I'd like to have it turn off when I want it to.
Thanks
I read that it can help to disable USB 3.0 support in BIOS settings.
It may also help to disable "Wake on"
(LAN/WLAN/USB..)settings in BIOS.
Do you have connected USB devices when you try to shutdown? Try to unplug them before you shutdown to test if it makes a difference.
Try to switch to Xorg. Logout and at login click on your username then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right corner. There select "Zorin Desktop on Xorg".
Disable secure boot and fast boot in BIOS.
Do you have a Dualboot with Windows? Then make sure that fast startup is disabled in the energy settings of Windows.
