Connecting Bluetooth headphones

This goes a bit beyond my understanding on hardware, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Since you're on Linux Mint, I assume you're using Timeshift already? This is the type of scenario where it's most useful at. Worst case scenario, rollback to the previous snapshot as if nothing ever happened.

Yes, timeshift is set up. The only other thing I have found that might help is to add
Disable=Headset
to the file
etc/bluetooth/main.conf
to force the a2dp profile.
I will try it out later. After the restart today, the headphones were without sound again. Only deactivating wlan when connecting the headphones does not help.

Ironically my ElCheapo KMart BT Headphones were recognized instantly and only required me clicking on them in the Settings-> Bluetooth and voila, on the other hand pity they hurt my ears :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

@Nirozzz Lucky you! Something more expensive isn't always better...Luckily they work fine in Windows and Android. But my headphones hurt me too :slightly_frowning_face: I can't wear them for long.

I plan on getting some "20 hours play time" El-Cheapo BT ear buds from a similar chain store to KMart hopefully this coming week. I will update your on the results. I'm already using a super El-Cheapo BT Keyboard from KMart it works great (USD $11) and despite not listing Linux as supported (I kept the docket just in case) it worked straight out of the box and the bonus NO windows key it's marked "cmd" so it really is a Linux keyboard

I managed to make the store today (a mission as I live in the boonies) and got some $25USD BT earbuds and ... well they initially hooked up to my laptop easily enough ... however they are extremely finicky, move my head around too much and "BT disconnect" move around a little bit more "BT connected" it's sort of very annoying however the sound is OK-ish, occasional echo/phasing. I was listening to a mostly talking video on YT whilst writing this reply and the vid finished and 2 seconds later "device disconnected ... device connected" this seems to happen quite a bit when a YT vid finishes grrr  on the other hand no sore ears

@Nirozzz Glad it's at least halfway working for you! It seems to be a common occurrence that Bluetooth causes problems with headsets. I haven't found a solution yet - it's kind of unpredictable when the A2dp profile shows up and when it doesn't. After manually connecting and disconnecting several times, I managed to get this profile to appear in the selection exactly once yesterday and thus get sound (even with Bluetooth and WLAN activated at the same time), but after shutting down the profile was no longer available. It doesn't work at all with other profiles. I will probably connect the headphones via cable if there is no other way.

My BT headphones also can be cable connected however it does seem a bit self defeating.
Maybe in my case it's because I also have a BT keyboard connected(?)
What about your situation, are you connecting more than 1 BT device simultaneously?

No, only the headphones.

@Nirozzz Do you have 2.4GHZ and 5GHz Wifi bands on your WiFi router?
If true, setup router to have 2 separate SSID's e.g. (homewifi24 and homewifi50).
You can you then choose to connect PC to the 5GHz Wifi SSID and see if that improves BT connection stability, by not having both WiFi and BT using 2.4GHZ band.

I'm using Starlink and when I check the address there is no log in
see screenshot below. I'm residing temporarily with a family member at the moment and it's their Starlink and they are zero score when it comes to tech
