First of all, I’d like to say that I think Zorin OS 18 is really well-designed, both visually and conceptually. I especially like the modern design with rounded window corners.
However, I’ve noticed that the window corners aren’t currently rendered consistently across the board. In some windows—for example, in certain Zorin/GTK interfaces—all four corners are rounded. In other applications, such as the terminal or the Virtual Machine Manager, the bottom corners sometimes remain square.
As a result, the interface appears somewhat inconsistent in these areas, despite the otherwise very cohesive design. The difference is clearly visible in the attached screenshot.
Suggestion:
Could Zorin OS use a system-wide, consistent window style in the future, so that all four corners of all normal windows are rounded with the same radius?
Ideally, it would be either:
a native implementation directly within the Zorin interface or window decoration, or an optional setting in “Zorin Appearance,” such as: “Enable rounded window corners” with an adjustable corner radius.
In my opinion, native integration would be better than an additional GNOME extension. This way, the appearance wouldn’t have to be adjusted later via an extension, and there would likely be fewer compatibility or performance concerns.
I realize that different applications use different toolkits and their own window decorations. That’s exactly why a centralized solution from Zorin would be particularly helpful. It would make the look and feel of Zorin OS even more consistent and polished.
Thank you very much for your great work on Zorin OS!
I would really like to see that, too, to achieve a more consistent look across GTK3 and GTK4 apps.
I’d also like to add another request: Please design the Zorin Appearance app which plays such a central role in Zorin as a regular window that can be resized. Turn the notebook stacks into regular windows.
Users who want to have rounded corners in all apps as long as this function is not implemented, can try this gnome extension. It cuts off the corner to make a round look.
The extension Rounded window corners reborn does offer that fuction, too, but some user reports complained about memory leaks.
A well tested Zorin gnome extension for this purpose or another way to achieve this in an option (mutter patch, adw-gtk3...) would be nice.
If there are rounded Corners depends how old the Program is. And for the Terminal in specific, I can say that the bottom square Corners are Intention. As fas as I know that was decided to have because it might look weird when the Cursor or Ouput would be in the Corners.
But with the new default Ptyxis Terminal this is obsolete. There You have all four Corners rounded.
