Default file manager thumbnails not showing and Dolphin customisation issues

I'm in a bit of a bind. I've been fighting with the default file manager in Zorin OS 17.3 to just have it consistently show thumbnails as I work with images and video files. I've followed suggestions to set Show Thumbnails to All files and increased the max size for the files thumbnails can be placed on but with no real effect.
I started looking at switching to the Dolphin file manager as it actually shows thumbnails first time but it comes with the issue of not being able to change the theme to dark to match with the rest of the desktop despite having installed KDE System Settings which has no Appearance options for some reason.

Any help on how to stop the default file manager from being stupid or how to properly integrate and customise the Dolphin file manager will be appreciated  .

Do You have installed Dolphin as Flatpak or APT? Because Flatpaks have limited Permissions the theming would have to set up. When You would use the APT Package, this wouldn't be neccessary because it is the native Package Format.

Open Gnome Software, search for ''Dolphin'' and look at the Software Page what Format is installed:

As an Alternative, You could try Nemo as File Manager. It is a nice one, too. You can install it in Gnome Software or in the Terminal with the Command sudo apt install nemo

I installed the APT version so I'm not sure what permissions it has missing. Going to try Nemo to see if it's any better.

Edit:
I tried Nemo and it seems to have the same issue as the default file manager. What's more frustrating is that both Nautalis and Nemo remember to put thumbnails on things after I open a folder containing the images/videos in Dolphin.

You could try it with the ffmpegthumbnailer Package. You can install it with the Terminal Command sudo apt install ffmpegthumbnailer

Reporting back that installing ffmpegthumbnailer seems to have fixed the issue. Thank you.
