Desktop icons keeps on disappearing on changing workspace

I am using Zorin OS 17.3 core.

  • Whenever I try to switch to a different workspace the desktop icons disappear on all of workspace at once.
  • Toggling the show desktop icons does not help from neither zorin-appearance nor extension manager.
  • I have tried several things like reinstalling nautilus or gdm3 and it doesn't seem to help.
  • Logging out and in fixes the problem or I have to wait for quite some time.
  • The zorin-appearance layout keeps changing every time this happens.
  • I also tried to use this [iconic] (GitHub - WinEunuuchs2Unix/iconic: Place desktop icons evenly to any monitor) which apparently redraws the icons on the desktop continuously. Even this didn't work.

I can work without switching workspace every now and then but whenever I do so, the same thing happens and I have to log out or wait for a long time. Is there a way to hopefully fix this ?

Does Your System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that in Settings>About

It's running on X11.

When You switch to Wayland does this happen, too?

No it's not happening on Wayland.

No issues here. Suspect if you are using any animations and you have Dynamic workspaces active, try changing to fixed workspaces as shown in this video:

Okay. Now, You could use simply Wayland. Or do You have any Programs or Hardware that have Problems with Wayland? Do you use a Nvidia Graphics for Example?

I just noticed this but the issue only persists if I swipe to switch from one workspace to another. Setting fixed number of workspaces also doesn't help.

I don't have any issue using Wayland. Although some of the CAD software often glitches and causes problems. I am used to X11 so I would prefer to stick to it.

I see from you screenshot you only have 2 workspaces. What happens when you change to four? That is what mine got set to when I chose 'Fixed number of workspaces'.

Same thing is happening.

Just looked at your screencast. I suspect it might be something to do with the Gnome desktop theme. Don't have this issue with the Windows 7 theme.

No, it's happening even with the default gtk and icon themes.
For reference this is gtk and icon theme I used in the screencast.
