Different backgrounds on multiple screens

Hi,

I have four screens, and I would like to have different background pictures on each one, and it would be great if they could all change randomly like it can do in Windows. I've tried HydraPapaer but it just doesn't work. All I can get is one picture that I never actually selected stretched across all four screens.

Any ideas?

Firstly, have you tried HydraPaper by logging into Zorin on xorg?

There is a cog that appears bottom right after you have selected/entered your username but before entering password. Click on the cog to select Zorin on xorg and see if that resolves the issue.

i'm on Lite so not sure if the same for you.
i have 2 screens and can put different wallpapers on each (haven't tried the change random thing).
i right click on home screen - desktop settings - background .
you do that on the screen you want to change the background
hope it helps

Thanks for the advice. I already tried that though. Every time I select a new background picture, it just puts up the same image on every screen

Sorry, what do you mean "logging into Zorin on xorg"? I don't know what xorg is. I'm a total noob

The default compositor for Zorin is now Wayland which can cause problems for applications written for the compositor xorg, sometimes referred to as X11, the last iteration of X. If you have installed with autologin you won't see a cog obviously. When you get to the login page, select your user name or type it in, but donct enter the password, you should see a cog appear. This cog will also show other Desktop Environments if you install them. This video of an earlier version of Zorin will give you some idea.

The two options in Zorin 17 are Zorin Desktop (Wayland compositor) and Zorin on xorg.

Thank you,

When I click the cog, I only have Zorin Desktop (already selected), and Zoring on Wayland. There is no xorg option

Is there a way to install xorg?

I believe "Zorin Desktop" is the Xorg (X11) option, which you already have set active.

do you know anything about setting up multiple backgrounds across 4 screens?

Hi Benny444,
Thanks for the screenshot. It would appear that the Zorin devs have taken note of all the issues raised with Wayland being the default compositor that was present in Zorin 17/17.1. I suspect this was changed in 17.2.

In terms of your original question I suspect the issue might be that the software you tried won't work with the latest kernel and/or the software hasn't been updated since first release.

[UPDATE: This might be your best solution:

Superpaper 2.0 is a Multi-Monitor Wallpaper App for Linux - OMG! Ubuntu ]

thank you. unfortunately Superpaper doesn't work. it loads but i cant create a profile. when i click 'Save' it just hangs. also, it completely crashes if i select 'Separate image for every display'.

Hydrapaper also couldnt seem to get anything going in this regard. something tells me there is something else going on. its like these programs arent able to isolate the screens.

i dont know much about all this but it seems like something else might be going on. any ideas?
